Caring for Your Jewellery
Cleaning Diamonds: Diamonds can lose their shine when oil and dirt accumulate on their surface. Clean your jewellery at home with warm water, a drop of dish soap, and a soft toothbrush. Gently brush the diamond and the prongs where dirt often collects. Dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Inspect Settings: Regularly check that the prongs are secure around your diamond. If you notice a loose diamond, stop wearing the piece immediately. Visit our boutique to have it inspected and adjusted by our goldsmiths.
Earring Locks: Over time, earring locks may loosen. You can have them tightened at our boutique or your local jeweler.
Chains and Clasps: Check the clasps and chains on necklaces and bracelets to ensure they haven’t stretched. If you notice any issues, bring the piece to our boutique for servicing.
Routine Maintenance: Just like a car and your body, jewellery needs regular servicing to stay in excellent condition. We recommend a professional service check at least every two years, depending on how frequently the piece is worn.
Usage and Storage Tips
Daily Wear: Put on your jewelry in the morning and remove it before bed. Avoid wearing rings and bracelets during strenuous activities such as boxing, gardening, or heavy lifting, as these can cause unnecessary wear or damage.
Storage: Store jewellery pieces separately to prevent scratches. Use soft cloths, tissue, or compartments in a jewellery box. Even earrings in a pair should be stored separately. Always lock chains to prevent tangling.
Special Services
Resizing: Rings can be resized for a fee.
Surface Refreshing: Gold and platinum develop a natural patina with age and wear, adding to their charm. If you prefer a refreshed look, we offer services like re-matte hammering, polishing, or rhodium treatments for a fee.
Rhodium Plating: Over time, black rhodium and rhodium plating may wear off, causing white gold to develop a yellowish hue. Replating is available at our in-house workshop for a fee, to restore its original appearance.
Additional Recommendations
Insurance: Take photos of your jewellery next to its certificate and one of you wearing it for insurance purposes. We hope you’ll never need it but having this documentation is invaluable.
Rings: Rings are especially prone to wear as hands often come into contact with hard surfaces throughout the day. Pay extra attention to the portion of the ring facing the palm, as it endures the most exposure.
